Welcome to the Lunapaint website!

Lunapaint is a paint and animation program for AROS, focusing on making the paint process fun and intuitive. Being inspired from DeluxePaint and TVPaint on Amiga, it aims to be a complete graphics solution for AROS users.

These pages are currently not quite finished yet, but has been made available together with the 0.2.1 release of Lunapaint. So if you find some sections unfinished, or quite unhelpful, please forgive me! These pages have also not been tested with Internet Explorer, but should be fine in Gecko or KHTML.

Updated 0.3.3c! (was Lunapaint v0.3.3b) - 7/11/2007

Ok it's pathetic, but I fixed some annoyances and decided to release it asap. Enjoy in the download section. Updated: I've uploaded a fix for 16-bit and 32-bit screens. Please try it out! Go to the download section.

Lunapaint v0.3.3 is out! - 7/10/2007

I've uploaded Lunapaint release 0.3.3. It's the first release in a long while, and it's been very delayed. Go to the download section to find out more.

Status update - 29/07/2007

I've soon finished the main features I wanted in Lunapaint v0.3.3 - so I am expecting to release it next month. At the same time I've started putting together an AROS distro which you can use to run Lunapaint on. I am working on setting up a website and cvs repository and I will post an update here when it is ready.

New screenshot and status - 20/07/2007

I've finally managed to get in proper layer merging functionality - and I've really gotten speed on development again. Also added a screenshot of 0.3.3 beta in action. More to come!

Coding continues - 13/07/2007

Finally after some lagging I have a little status update. I've cleaned up the code a little in Lunapaint and am soon done fixing the last bugs I had on my buglist from v0.3.2 - so now I can then focus on the 0.3.3 release, which has been lagging behind for so long. Things have been very slow in AROS land this summer, but I hope that will change now that people have had their vacations and are coming back to life! For me, do have a vacation in August, but am finally back in a routine that gives me time for coding after work. In the next update I'll post some new screenshots.

Status update - 24/06/2007

It is summer and things aren't moving so fast right now in AROS land. Due to some issues in Wanderer and the lack of manpower to overcome them, development has been going a bit slow here. Keep an eye out for more updates soon.

No activity - 7/05/2007

Sorry for being so quiet lately. I've recovered from having an "Irritant intestine" problem :-) but it seems to have gone away now - or is diminishing at least so I don't have any problems anymore. Anyhow, I'm busy on my Lunapaint todo list and also hacking a bit on the AROS Wanderer code. I've not disappeared!

Lunapaint v0.3.2 is out! - 4/03/2007

Lunapaint v0.3.2 is out! I decided not to use another week on this one as the major milestones have been met. So now it's on with v0.3.3! =) Go to the download page to download the archive or go to archives.aros-exec.org to save me bandwidth.

Development on Lunapaint v0.3.2 is progressing - 28/02/2007

The previous release introduced a few fatal bugs - like floodfill and some filled shapes causing deadlock (because of an infinite loop), and the canvas locking up sometimes. These bugs are fixed in the upcoming 0.3.2 release - which is mainly a stability/usability release with a few features thrown in. v0.3.2 will be the last release which is only for AROS - the next unstable, 0.3.3, will also be released for classic Amigas (OS3.x) - which in turn will be runnable on MorphOS and AmigaOS4. Please keep in mind that this release will be part of the unstable release so it might have all sorts of crashes. Lunapaint was ported to AmigaOS by MinisterQ of AmiGG fame. A big thanks to him. More news on the ports to follow.

Lunapaint is open source! - 21/02/2007

Yes it happened! Lunapaint is now open source. I set up a berlios project and you can find the project at: http://lunapaint.berlios.de Lunapaint v0.3.2 is now under development and is primarily a bugfix release. So now, go ahead and port this app to MorphOS, AmigaOS 3.x and OS4. There is no excuse not to!

Lunapaint v0.3.1 is out! - 31/01/2007

Finally lunapaint v0.3.1 is out! It has more fixes than any other release. Please go to the download section for all the juice.

Progress on 0.3.1 - 24/01/2007

Looks like I will make it to release Lunapaint v0.3.1 this weekend! I've had a couple of hurdles to overcome, but it's coming to a close. Layer controls are in now and allot of fixes. Also, the layer object connection internals are in place so that it will be possible to add layer effects and other things very soon after the 0.3.1 release. See you on sunday!

Lunapaint v0.2.2 is out! - 19/08/2006

Lunapaint v0.2.2 is out! Lots of new things in this release, so be sure to read in the changelog found in the archive. Highlights are: rewritten blending, rewritten antialiasing, clipbrushes, more stability, circles, rectangles, proper lines... allot :-)

Lunapaint 0.2.2 will be released before 0.3 - 14/08/2006

I've decided to release Lunapaint v0.2.2 before v0.3, because I'd like to get a version out there as soon as possible so you can try out the new drawing system and find the remaining show stopper bugs. v0.2.2 will be released by next weekend from now. Also updated the FAQ.

Bumb!! - 7/08/2006

Just thought I'd add another news item here in case you don't follow my blog and think I've gone completely silent! I'm working on polishing the rewrite in Lunapaint 0.3, and I've made ready to start on the clip brushes. Antialiasing is done, but I still need to fix some blending issues (which is unrelated to antialiasing but important when mixing colours). Read the update in my blog.

m0ns00n's blog - 16/06/2006

I just signed up for a blog at blogger.com, you can read it at m0ns00n.blogspot.com. Just to let you know =)

Antialiasing going as planned - 15/06/2006

The new antialiasing code for sub-pixel coordinates is coming along nicely. I will post some screenshots as soon as I get to clean up the code. That might lag though as I am still on vacation. I will keep everyone posted!

Lunapaint 0.3 in progress - 12/06/2006

I've started coding the new brush system which is supposed to be ready for v0.3. It doesn't use diameter for brushes, but width and height. It will also pave the way for clib brushes to work together with all the painting tools, so you can have coloured brushes and lots more. The new brush system also respects subpixel coordinates better so there will be a much better antialias effect. The one which is used now is subpar even with Lunapaint on Linux... I am going to add a commenting system here on this site soon, so you can give me some direct feedback. At the same time I'm working on a bug reporting system so you guys can easily report bugs and keep track on those which are reported previously.

Small web update - 6/06/2006

Hey! Just a small update to the site. The screenshots are now normal HTML links for you guys using Amiga browsers. Please excuse my arrogance! Now it is fixed. This page is for you not me and my l337 sKillz.... :-)

New website of Lunapaint is ready! - 4/06/2006
